Hello All! I've just recently in the last few months discovered Sara Douglass by way of my Uncle Douglas. ;]
I'm waiting on him to finish Crusader before I start it, so I've started Hades' Daughter [Book One of The Troy Game] and so far I'm loving it. Thank God for the public library or I'd never get to read her works!

Does anyone have a suggestion on another author who writes along the same lines as Sara Douglass? I'm absolutely absorb books faster than a coke head in a room full of blow with only one minute to stuff as much as he can in his nose.

also, this is an offshoot journal of an old one, so if you need a friend, check me out. ;D

A favorite of mine is Lynn Flewelling. She doesn't write as intricate stories as Douglass, but I'm absolutely in love with how she ties things in. I haven't read The Bone Doll's Twin (or the two that follow), but I am insanely in love with her Nightrunner Series. Can't get enough!

Also, which books of Sara Douglass have you read? Curious because some people don't realize how BIG the thing with Axis really is (more than just six books).

I've read The Wayfarer Redemption, Enchanter, StarMan, Sinner, and Pilgrim. After I read Crusader, I'm going to try to find Darkglass Mountain. :]

Before you read Darkglass Mountain, you need to read two others! Threashold and Beyond the Hanging Wall. :D Both are heavily within Darkglass Mountain. <3

:D Yay! Just warning you because one of the main characters in Darkglass mountain has a huge history in Beyond the Hanging Wall. I didn't even realize it until I started reading about Darkglass Mountain! And the main issue in that book actually started in Threshold. :D Hurray tie-ins!

Yay! Another Troy Game fan! I prefer them to the Tencendor books (*ducks to avoid the outrage of horrified Tencendor fans*). Welcome.

Another author I've heard as being described as similar to Douglass is Tanith Lee. I've read several of her books, and they're pretty good, although in some ways they're even darker than Sara Douglass's. She does a similar thing with Venice and with Paris that Douglass does in relation to London in the Troy books - that is, she writes an alternative history for them.

Prepare to have it smashed and broken even more. That's all I'm saying.

I'm on book two now, so I'm kinda weaning myself away from wanting to automatically like Brutus. He reminds me of *gasp* Axis.
