...but I was listening to this song and it struck me that it fits in perfectly with some Troy Game-related stuff. I realise this is a Tencendor community, but some people will have read the Troy Game books, right?

I thought this song, "Mezzanine" by Massive Attack, was a really good theme for Noah-Cornelia and Weyland-Asterion.

Not the most interesting clip, of course.

And lyrics here. If you look at the lyrics, you'll see what I mean about it being a Noah-Asterion theme.

What do you think?

I don't see it, really.

Also, Noah/Weyland is my favorite pairing of Sara's. It's the only one where I don't detest at least one of them. Aside from 'Threshold', which is my favorite of her books. XD

Yeah, it's probably just me. I tend to try and link my favourite songs with my favourite aspects of my favourite books. It's mainly the stuff about 'unwinding all our flaws' that linked it in my mind to Noah and Weyland. Their relationship is basically the turning-point of the series. Up until that point, everyone's actions had been making things progressively worse and worse.

The thing about the Troy Game books that really resonated with me (and is, I think, their main theme) is the idea that life is a series of terrible accidents that can have consequences on an epic scale, and that we need more than one lifetime to figure out the harm we have done to ourselves and others. Noah and Weyland realise this about 300 years before the rest of the characters. In my mind, this is because they each realise 'all these other flaws will lead to mine' and that together 'we can unwind all our flaws'.

Also, Noah/Weyland is my favorite pairing of Sara's. It's the only one where I don't detest at least one of them.
An emphatic yes to that! I definitely agree with you there.
